The Challenge
A Training Platform That Had to Earn Its Stripes
EMS Plumbline has spent years building a reputation for affordable, high-quality EMS education in New York and beyond. Their catalog spans online courses, Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), in-person classes, and over 20 free continuing education units — all designed for the busy schedules of working first responders.
But their digital presence wasn’t keeping pace. First responders are a discerning audience: they need information fast, trust built quickly, and a registration process that doesn’t get in the way. The existing site made it harder than it needed to be to find courses, understand pricing tiers, and sign up — friction that costs enrollments.
The challenge was to design and build a site that felt as professional and dependable as EMS Plumbline’s instructors: clear, efficient, and built for people who don’t have time to waste.
What We Did
Purpose-Built for First Responders
We partnered with the EMS Plumbline team to redesign and redevelop their website from the ground up, with a focus on clarity, usability, and growth. Our work included:
- Discovery & Strategy — We mapped the full learner journey — from a first responder landing on the site to completing enrollment — and identified every point of unnecessary friction along the way.
- Custom Web Design — We designed a clean, authoritative interface that communicates professionalism and trust at a glance. The visual language reflects the seriousness of EMS work while keeping the experience approachable and easy to navigate.
- Web Development — We built the site on WordPress, structuring the course catalog, event listings, and membership tiers so the EMS Plumbline team can manage content updates, add new courses, and post upcoming events without developer support.
- Course Catalog Architecture — We organized the full range of offerings — online CEUs, VILT sessions, in-person classes, and free open-access training — into a logical, filterable structure that helps learners find exactly what they need quickly.
- Event & Calendar Integration — Upcoming in-person and virtual sessions are displayed in a clear, up-to-date calendar so students can plan their recertification without hunting for information.
- Newsletter & Lead Capture — We integrated a newsletter sign-up flow to help EMS Plumbline stay connected with their learner community and announce new courses and resources throughout the year.
